Once upon a time, long, long ago Christians used to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on this day. The event was commemorated by attending Mass followed by feasting fit for a king. Gifts were exchanged and memories were made.

Sadly this special day has become the celebration of material gain in many homes across the world. Cards and gifts are exchanged as a matter of course, with material value being of prime importance.
